Changing Dynamics:
The faster-growing India supply chain has driven the needs of Customer experience and Product Experience. Warehousing is one of the crucial steps in the supply chain, where every innovation in the field helps to increase efficiency and reduce costs

How can the warehouse reinvent and transform itself rapidly to meet the changing needs?

Current realities
Challenges within the warehousing industry aren’t uncommon, with a population of 1.37 billion; it is very unlikely that unemployment isn’t an issue in a country like India. The fear of loss of jobs and technology taking over has always been a problem for the masses. With a wide array of options available, the decision to finalize the right tech is a challenge. The increasing cost, shortage of funds, lack of skilled labour and deteriorating conditions of the warehouses are also major challenges that Indian warehouses face.

However, the question that arises is, how important is the role of technology within warehouses? Does the Indian market understand the importance of tech implementation, and how eager is the warehousing industry to adopt new tech.

Need for Innovation and Transformation of Warehouses in India

The fact is that there is a need for Warehouses to move from traditional stocking warehouses to flexible multi-channel fulfilment centres. This transformation will require a change in both, the physical layout as well as the technology that is used. Physical transformation is equally important to Digital transformation for various reason like security vulnerabilities, better floor space management and to optimize equipment wear and tear, to include sustainability and more importantly a more human centric design to improve working conditions and drive efficiencies.

Roadmap for Innovation and transformation of Warehouses in India

From multilingual voice-picking and augmented reality to specialized robots, revolutionary technologies are changing picking practices. Technology is transforming every aspect of the warehouse. From tracking inventory to product picking—to get goods in and out as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.
